Basket Cases – Monthly Weaving Circle

Come sit with them under the trees at Yarrawarra and learn the various traditional weaving techniques of the Gumbaynggirr People.

A woman with light coloured hair holds a small woven basket her in her outstretched hands.

Apprentice Weaver and Gumbaynggirr Artist, Lilly Clegg, teaches a different weaving style each month and provides all the fibres and decorations, but always welcomes people bringing fibres of their own to use or share and they always appreciate donations of Bangalow Palm Fronds (the chunky ends) for making water-carriers.

The Weaving Circle runs on the first Sunday of every month from 10am-12pm
Cost is AUD30 per person.

The Weaving Circle is Free for Gumbaynggirr Men and Women.

The Valley Hub acknowledges Gumbaynggirr country, the Ancestors, Elders and Traditional Custodians of the Valley in which we live and work. We thank them for their care of country through time and acknowledge and respect their continuing connection to land, waters and culture.
